From MXene to Multimodal‐Responsive Smart, Durable Electromagnetic Interference Shielding Textiles

Abstract

Abstract Achieving wearable, multifunctional e‐textiles with high mechanical properties, exceptional environmental durability, and intelligent, responsive capabilities remains a significant challenge. Here, novel high‐strength, environmentally adaptable, and intelligent electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding fibers/e‐textiles composed of polyvinyl alcohol‐assisted multiple crosslinking MXene nanosheets are prepared through a facile, scalable wet spinning approach. The synergistic effect of hydrogen, ionic, and covalent bonds significantly enhances the mechanical properties, hydrophobicity, waterproof capability, and oxidation resistance of MXene‐embedded fibers/textiles, contributing to the reliability and durability of wearable textiles even in harsh environments. Moreover, through the high‐efficiency utilization of PVA and MXene, the textiles can achieve dynamic, wide‐ranging control of EMI SE with multimodal response involving orientation, humidity, and light/electric stimuli. The novel type of textiles acting as intelligent, smart EMI shielding “On/Off” or “High/Low” switches are demonstrated. Combined with the multifunctionalities of thermal therapy, deicing, and antibacterial implemented, the high‐strength, environmentally adaptive, and multimodal‐responsive MXene‐embedded smart EMI shielding e‐textiles show great promise for advancing the development of next‐generation, wearable, smart electronics.
