Abstract

A fluorine-functionalized imide-linked covalent organic framework, NMUCOF-1, was synthesized via straightforward melt polymerization for selective SF 6 capture. The resulting NMUCOF-1 features high stability and a large surface area (991 m 2 ·g –1 ) and exhibits an SF 6 uptake of 1.75 mmol·g –1 with a high SF 6 /N 2 selectivity of 41 (273 K). Dynamic breakthrough experiments confirm efficient and reversible SF 6 capture from SF 6 /N 2 mixtures. Molecular simulations reveal the high SF 6 affinity stems from synergistic interactions. This work validates melt polymerization for constructing fluorinated COFs and presents a benchmark adsorbent for SF 6 mitigation.
