Abstract

The effect of a compatibilizer on the properties of highly filled composites based on aluminum hydroxide and a mixture of high- and low-density polyethylenes was evaluated by the data of analysis of their physicochemical and thermophysical properties, as well as by the data of dilatometric studies. The compatibilizer was a Fusabond DuPont P353 additive dopant, which is a statistical ethylene–propylene copolymer modified with maleic anhydride. The use of this compatibilizer allows one to increase the adhesion contact strength at the filler/polymer interface and, as a result of this, to achieve a noticeable improvement in the strength characteristics. According to the limiting oxygen index test, the addition of the compatibilizer leads to improvement in the fire resistance of the composites.
