What is the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on tuberculosis?

Abstract
Although many modelling studies evaluating the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on tuberculosis have concluded that there could potentially be thousands of extra deaths due to tuberculosis in the coming years, a recent review1 highlighted that empirical evidence on the impact of the pandemic on tuberculosis outcomes remains insufficient. The longitudinal analysis done in Indonesia by Henry Surendra and colleagues,2 published in The Lancet Global Health, has uncovered some new insights and questions on the mechanisms by which the pandemic could have affected tuberculosis outcomes within a high tuberculosis burden setting.
