Understanding enormous redshifts in highly concentrated Mn<sup>2+</sup> phosphors

Abstract
The enormous redshift observed for luminescence in highly doped Mn 2+ phosphors is shown to be not caused by strongly exchange coupled Mn 2+ -pairs but by energy migration to near-infrared luminescent trap centers.
