Abstract

decreased significantly. Meanwhile, U-ICM significantly promotes the expression of tight junction protein and the production of cytokines, indicating that U-ICM had the function of enhancing the intestinal barrier and regulating the host immune response. In conclusion, U-ICM as dietary fiber has the potential to be developed as a gut health-promoting prebiotic component or functional food. This research provided a valuable resource for further exploring the structure-activity relationship and prebiotic activity of ICMs.
