Abstract Here we respond to the five commentaries on Mallin and Sidaway (2023). This enables us to clarify our conception of the dialectic of geopolitics and geoeconomics and expand on the suggestions of how best to situate geoeconomics in historical geographical contexts. We thereby outline some agendas for undertaking critical geoeconomics.
