Abstract
Enterosorption is a very promising method for elimination of toxins of various natures both in emergency situations and during planned detoxification of organism. This is a simple and effective method of cleaning the organism by means of sorbents, used at the prevention and treatment of some diseases, poisoning, and correction of pathological conditions connected with endo- and exotoxicosis. Enterosorbents are used to prevent toxic-allergic reactions, to reduce the metabolic load on the organs of excretion and detoxification. According to the Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical classification system of the World Health Organization, enterosorbents belong to the group A07B “Intestinal adsorbents”. The scientific studies of recent years, devoted to the application of enterosorbents in clinical practice, in particular, for removal of toxic metals from human organism, are considered in the given review. The modern classification of enterosorbents, mechanisms of their action are presented as well.
