Abstract
In the realm of battery research, the fabrication of specialized ultramicroelectrodes (UMEs) is crucial, particularly for applications in lithium batteries, where tungsten UMEs are indispensable. Despite the complexity of this task, mastering UME fabrication can significantly enhance research capabilities. This paper offers a comprehensive, step-by-step guide to the successful fabrication of UMEs, serving as a vital resource for battery researchers. Our detailed procedures simplify the fabrication process, making it accessible and straightforward─like a “cheat code” for researchers. Additionally, we provide an in-depth analysis of the voltammetry of zinc and lithium electrodeposition, including methodologies for interpreting fast-scan cyclic voltammetry data to determine the kinetic parameters. This paper delivers an essential guideline for fabricating UMEs, empowering researchers to expand their experimental toolkit and advance the field of battery research.
