Abstract
A simple Schiff-base ligand 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde semicarbazone (<bold>HNS</bold>) was synthesized and applied to the sequential sensing of Al<sup>3+</sup> and F<sup>−</sup> ions in aqueous media and live cells.
