Abstract

Abstract A strategy to synthesize 3‐alkyl quinoxalin‐2(1 H )‐ones and other alkyl N‐heteroarenes via a photocatalyzed decarbonylative alkylation of quinoxalin‐2(1 H )‐ones and simple N‐heterocycles with commercially available aliphatic aldehyde under ambient conditions using phenanthrenequinone as a photocatalyst was developed. In this transformation, various 3‐alkyl quinoxalin‐2(1 H )‐ones and other alkyl N‐heteroarenes were generated in 58–87% isolated yields with good functional‐group tolerance. magnified image
