Abstract
Over the past decades, the excessive consumption of chemical pesticides for crop protection has caused negative effects on the environment and also mismatched with the goals of sustainable agriculture . Green nanotechnology enables to prevent and control plant diseases in a proactive manner. Herein, we review the application of biogenic nanoparticles for early diagnosis and disease treatment in plants. It was found that biogenic nanoparticles increased selectivity, efficiency and sensitivity of methods including DNA-based biosensing, colorimetric test, lateral flow assay , and immunosensing. Among methods, pocket-sized test kits based on lateral flow assay combined with biogenic nanoparticles can be an effective and convenient tool to screen potential food plant pathogens . Biogenic nanoparticles also contributed to controlling of plant pathogens . Remarkable prospects of biogenic nanoparticles can be antimicrobial food packaging for postharvest technologies , environmental mitigation and soil amendment.
