Bose polaron and the Efimov effect: A Gaussian-state approach

Abstract

The authors study a light impurity immersed in a weakly interacting Bose-Einstein condensate using a numerical variational technique based on Gaussian states. By showing how the polaron state becomes unstable due to the decay into the Efimov cluster, the authors unveil an interesting interplay between polaron physics and Efimov physics.
