Abstract
Bulk acoustic wave (BAW) filters are a fundamental enabler of 5G wireless communication systems. RF-FEMs feature an ever-increasing number of filter paths that must manage a very crowded electromagnetic spectrum with minimum insertion loss, maximum out-of-band rejection and an unbeatable level of miniaturization. This work presents an overview of the challenges new bands pose for BAW filters along the technological approaches to face them. An example of a hybrid BAW solution for the B41 band with improved rejection is introduced and discussed.
