Abstract
Lysozyme hydrolyses β-(1,4) linkages between d -glucosamine and N -acetyl- d -glucosamine units in chitosan, and degrades one of the bifunctional crosslinks in chitosan–genipin hydrogels. Degraded particles have potential to be renally excreted in vivo .
