Abstract

This research paper presents speed control of a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) driven Electric Vehicle (EV) using the Field Oriented Control (FOC) technique for a complete reference drive cycle. The controller is designed to operate both on rated parameters of the EV and distorted parameters of the EV. The EV model is designed on simulink in MATLAB® 2020a and also incorporates the concept of regenerative braking. The first part of the simulation deals with the speed control test and the second part of the simulation is analyzing the performance of the EV after changing certain parameters called sensitive parameters of the motor in order to understand the drop in performance of the EV after some years of usage and degradation. In this paper the performance variation plots are superimposed with the rated parameter results to clearly understand the sensitivity and performance analysis of the Electric Vehicle.
