Research on electrochemical discharge milling of TC4 titanium alloy

Abstract

In recent years, electrochemical discharge machining technology is playing an increasingly important role in some specific scenarios. A milling experiment of electrochemical discharge technology on TC4 titanium alloy has been carried out. A complete set of high-precision experimental platform was built. The titanium alloy was milled with tap water as the working fluid. The effects of the applied voltage, electrode diameter, electrode feed speed and electrode rotation speed on the side gap and surface roughness are analyzed and compared. Then the optimal parameters were determined by single factor experiment. By employing the optimized parameters, some structures were successfully machined on the titanium alloy to prove the feasibility of electrochemical discharge milling for the titanium alloy.
