<italic>In situ</italic> hybridized composites of mono-faceted WO<sub>3−x</sub> nanorods in N-doped carbon nanosheets (WO<sub>3−x</sub> NRs/N-CNSs) were developed for ultra-fast/stable sodium-ion storage.
