Abstract
Effective control of electric motor in Electric Vehicles (EVs) is critical for providing better driving experience and increased reliability. Conventional Proportional Integral (PI) based Field Oriented Control (FOC) of drive systems suffers from performance degradation under parameter variation due to aging, temperature rise etc. In this work, a Look-Up Table (LUT) based FOC with Sliding Mode Control (SMC) is proposed for EV drive system and its performance is analyzed. Results affirm that the performance of SMC based control scheme is more robust than that of PI controller based scheme.
