Fractional calculus in data fitting

Abstract
This paper investigates the role of fractional calculus in data fitting. We show that while the Caputo and Atangana-Baleanu fractional derivatives can be applied successfully in data fitting, this might not be true for the conformable derivative. The conformable derivative results in an unnecessarily complicated differential equation that warrants the use of numerical methods, thus compromises the quality of the solutions in data fitting.
