Abstract

A new phenazine-imidazole based Schiff base (PIS) fluorescent probe was developed for ratiometric detection of Cd 2+ ions in aqueous media at physiological pH. PIS upon binding with Cd 2+ ions shows red shifted fluorescence and thereby permits ratiometric detection of Cd( ii ) ions.
