Abstract

In this study, to attain refinement of frequency changes in isolated and integrated thermal-thermal power system is examined,. The systems are integrated with turbine and a mechanical governor. In addition a simple PID / (1+PID) PID cascaded controller is incorporated into the secondary loop to analyze the effectiveness of the controller in automatic generation control (AGC). A recently proposed socio-inspired optimization algorithm called cohort intelligence optimization algorithm (CIO) is tested to tune the specification of the PID and cascaded PID controllers for isolated and interconnected systems respectively. The controller gain value measurement was accomplished employing the Integral Time Absolute Error (ITAE) basis. Initially, the arrangements investigated only ACO and CIO based on dynamic response. Later, the scheme is operated by considering the different combinations of controller-based CIO along with non-linearity being Generation Dead Band (GDB) and Generation Rate Constraint (GRC) are analyzed to know the strength of the controller
