Abstract
The study analyzes the challenges in the education and training of nurses in the Ecuadorian health system, highlighting the significant gap between theoretical training and professional practice, as well as the variability in the quality of educational programs. Educational institutions lack resources to provide adequate practical experiences, affecting the preparation of nurses. In addition, the limited supply of continuing education and specialization programs, along with financial and geographic barriers, limits the professional development of nurses. Despite government policies to improve training, inconsistent implementation and lack of financial resources hinder their effectiveness. It is recommended that successful strategies from other countries, such as state-funded continuing education programs and strategic alliances between universities and hospitals, be adopted to improve the educational quality and preparation of nurse
