Abstract

Recent research statistics have revealed that the growth of agricultural production has significantly stalled. The yield of major grain crops grown globally is only about 1% in a year, which is much lower than the world’s population growth rate. Expanding cultivated areas to meet future needs in order to feed the growing urbanized population that has higher food demands is not a possibility. Furthermore, the increase of the global population has resulted in the demand for more lands for settlement. On the other hand, agricultural production is reducing due to various reasons such as climate change. Therefore, increasing agricultural productivity is the only solution.
