Abstract

Consistent with the mission of the International Headache Society (IHS) to improve migraine management worldwide, this document focuses on providing practical recommendations on the preventive pharmacological management of migraine. Due to the inconsistent availability of medications across different regions of the globe, these recommendations are categorized into two levels: Optimal and Essential. The Optimal level is intended for settings where most drug treatments are available. The Essential level is focused on countries where only the drugs listed in the World Health Organization (WHO) Model List of Essential Medicines (EML) are available
