Abstract

Lanthanide–azobenzene macrocyclic complexes show contraction-tuned UV and/or Vis photoswitching and a unique glass-surface trigger for cis -to- trans re-isomerization. Nd 3+ and Yb 3+ assemblies function as dual Vis/NIR luminescent thermometers.
