Abstract

ST95 isolates from human and poultry sources, but clade I, which housed temporally and spatially matched isolates, provided the most robust evidence. Notably, patterns of association of F replicon types with E. coli host were mirrored within a diverse collection of 34,176 E. coli genomes. Our studies indicate that the role of food animals as a source of human ExPEC disease is complex and warrants further investigation.
