Abstract

Metal halide perovskites (MHPs) have demonstrated remarkable performance with efficient luminescence and color tunability, which potentially replace traditional luminescent materials in up-to-date display technology. However, MHPs still face serious challenges in stability and efficiency for display applications. The ligand strategy is currently one of the most effective approaches for comprehensive performance improvement in perovskite displays (Pe-displays). This paper reviews the recent progress of the comprehensive performance improvement of Pe-displays from the perspective of the ligand strategy in recent years, which has never been emphasized before. First, defect types are summarized to boost the further understanding of MHPs. The detailed ligand strategies for different site defects are then reviewed for the purpose of further work. Finally, the outlooks of the ligand strategy are raised to promote further study and commercialization of next-generation Pe-displays. This review comprehensively focuses on the study of perovskite ligand strategies that can be widely extended to the applications of emerging displays.
