Abstract
The article discusses health promotion and disease prevention strategies from the perspective of nurses in Ecuador, highlighting their crucial role in community education, vaccination campaigns and chronic disease monitoring. Nurse-led health education has improved knowledge and healthy behavior in vulnerable communities, while vaccination programs have increased coverage and reduced the incidence of preventable diseases. School health initiatives have also promoted healthy habits from an early age. However, implementation faces significant challenges, such as lack of resources, socio-cultural and economic barriers, and insufficient integration of health policies in rural communities. Despite these challenges, opportunities include the use of ICTs to improve access to health services, intersectoral collaboration and the development of inclusive and sustainable policies. Strengthening these areas is essential to improve health equity and quality of life in Ecuador.
