• Metric tools are necessary to support claims of sustainability, performance etc. • Various metrics have been developed since the introduction of greenness notion in 1998. • The evolution of metric tools can be observed in the last five years. • It is time to cross the borders from proliferation to harmonized application. • Guidelines, general rules and training are necessary for correct use of metrics.
