Abstract

Facing the problems encountered in contemporary hard and soft tissue repair, the need for better solutions has never been so pressing. Traditional tissue repair methods often fall short, leading to disappointing therapeutic outcomes and complications. To address the problems associated with tissue engineering, polyurethane stands out because of its remarkable adaptability and healing potential. This review embarks on a journey through the essential properties and diverse classifications of polyurethane, unveiling the modification strategies that amplify its efficacy. Beyond its process of mending tissue gaps, the capability of polyurethane as a sophisticated drug delivery system is explored to offer a glimpse into its versatile applications. Most notably, the cutting-edge advancements and clinical trials of polyurethane in bridging the voids in both hard and soft tissue repair are discussed. The present review explores the future of bio-interface repair, providing a wave of inventive solutions that are poised to redefine the landscape of regenerative medicine.
