Abstract
Today, DC microgrids have gained attention due to their performance ability. The advantages of this type of microgrid over AC microgrids are fewer DC/AC and AC/DC conversion steps, easier control, reliability, and higher efficiency. One of the most important challenges that DC microgrids face is such systems protection. In this paper, a protection algorithm based on a differential protection method for a low voltage ring DC microgrid connected to the network is presenting. This protection method ought to able to quickly detect all types of pole-to-pole and pole-to-ground faults for high-impedance and low-impedance faults and prevent complete system shutdown. After detecting and isolating the fault, the fault place was determining using fuzzy logic and using voltage transients.
