Abstract
( Obstet Gynecol . 2020;135:999–1002) In December 2019, a cluster of patients with pneumonia of unknown etiology emerged in Wuhan, China. It was discovered in early January 2020 that the causative pathogen was a novel coronavirus, later named SARS-CoV-2. By March 11, 2020, the virus had spread globally and the World Health Organization declared a pandemic. As the situation with the novel coronavirus rapidly evolves, there are many key questions that remain to be answered about the disease and how it affects pregnant women and their neonates. This commentary aims to summarize key questions and available data, and makes relevant recommendations to obstetricians and their pregnant patients.
