Abstract
Abstract Facile, partial reduction of carboxylic acid derivatives such as acid chlorides, esters, amides, and nitriles to aldehydes has been demonstrated using a DIBALH and morpholine system. The present system was extensively optimized, and various mole ratios of DIBALH and morpholine were evaluated to accomplish aldehydes in almost excellent yields. Commercial availability of reagents, milder reaction conditions, short reaction time (<1–60 min), and excellent yields are the silent features of the methodology. The present protocol has a broad substrate scope and allows the reduction of aromatic, heterocyclic, polycyclic, and aliphatic substrates.
