Abstract
This study discovered a new thermocatalytic reaction of NO-to-NH 3 synthesis to solve nitric oxide pollution and low NH 3 synthesis efficiency. Solid-solution Os x Pt 1– x /γ-Al 2 O 3 exhibited an outstanding performance in NO-to-NH 3 synthesis under mild temperatures and ambient pressure. Os 0.1 Pt 0.9 /γ-Al 2 O 3 yielded up to 97% NH 3 at 200 °C, with remarkably higher yield and milder conditions than that of the Haber-Bosch process. The high NO-to-NH 3 synthesis activities and NH 3 yields were attributed to the synergistic effect of ultrafast NO and H 2 dissociations.
