Introductory Quantum Mechanics
Richard L. Liboff
Abstract
The complete description of spin dynamics relies heavily on quantum mechanics and since this is what we are interested in as magnetic resonance spectroscopists, a short synopsis is presented here. The history of the development of quantum mechanics is well documented and is briefly presented here. A short development of the Schrodinger equation is presented and the fundamental postulates of quantum mechanics are given for use in later chapters. The parallel between orthogonal vectors and wavefunctions is drawn and the Heisenberg uncertainty principle is developed.
