Abstract

The use of plastics is increasing inexorably on the planet. However, countries consuming manufactured or packaged products find themselves unable to limit and recycle their waste. The wealthiest get rid of the problem by exporting these plastics—recyclable or otherwise—to Asian countries. Since China closed its borders in 2018, the poorest countries, such as Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia, have inherited this global market. A report by Aude Vidal.
