Abstract

There is an inevitable communication latency (CL) with open communication lines in power system networks. The CL deteriorates the performance of the load frequency control (LFC) system by introducing phase lag and affecting closed loop- stability. Considering the merits of fractional order (FO) controllers over their integer order counterparts, this work proposes a relocated fractional order internal model control (RFOIMC) method. Using the RFOIMC strategy, a FO proportional-integral- derivative with fractional integrator controller with single tunable (ψ) is designed for thermal power systems with CL. The efficacy of the proposed controller is examined amid system parametric uncertainties, nonlinearities, and step load disturbance.
