Modeling and Construction of Underwater Single Wire Power Transfer System

Abstract
In order to provide continuous energy for underwater equipments mounted on the cable, an underwater single-wire power transfer (USWPT) system is proposed. The principle of the electromagnetic wave propagation in the USWPT system is analyzed, and a lumped parameter circuit model is established, as well as verified through simulations and experiments. Besides, the power transfer characteristics of the USWPT system with an series-inductor capacitor capacitor (S-LCC) compensation toplogy are researched. Moreover, a prototype of the USWPT system with a 51-m single wire is constructed. The load can pick up stable power and efficiency at any position of the single wire in the USWPT system, and the maximum transmission power is 19.93 W while the system efficiency can reach 24.95%.
