Abstract

Thermoplastic polyamide elastomers (TPAEs) have emerged as important elastomer materials with significant practical applications, because of their outstanding mechanical properties, good thermal stability, and broad operating temperature window. However, the traditional raw precursors of TPAEs are mainly from fossil materials, which greatly limit their sustainability. To solve this problem, the preparation and application of biobased TPAEs (BTPAEs) have aroused much interest, and a series of achievements have been achieved in the past decades. In this Review, the research progress of BTPAEs is systematically summarized, in which the raw materials, synthesis, properties, and applications of BTPAEs are introduced. In addition, opportunities and challenges for achieving high-performance BTPAEs are presented. This Review is expected to stimulate more unprecedented achievements derived from BTPAEs, thus further promoting their future practical applications.
