Abstract

In this article, an open-circuit fault diagnosis and fault-tolerant control method of power switch for a coupled-inductor-based Aalborg inverter, where no additional sensors or diagnostic circuits are required, is proposed. The proposed fault diagnosis technique can quickly and accurately identify if any switch of the inverter is in an open-circuit state. When any high-frequency switch is in an open-circuit fault condition, the proposed fault-tolerant control method can ensure that the inverter continues to operate with high performance. Furthermore, the proposed method is highly suitable for industrial applications since it can be easily embedded in the control system. Simulations and experiments are carried out to verify the effectiveness of the proposed fault diagnosis and fault-tolerant control method.
