Abstract
Latency is one of the key performance in many emerging business and services. The requirement of latency is less than 1ms in the fifth-generation mobile communication technology (5G) network, and it is more challenging compared with the fourth-generation mobile communication technology (4G). In order to support more stringent latency, some new features and technologies are introduced in 5G. Therefore, it is necessary to research and evaluate latency under 5G. In this paper, we present some new features and technologies on latency. Furthermore, a field trial was conducted to evaluate 5G latency. The trial results show that latency requirement of Enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB) can be satisfied under specific configuration. Finally, some suggestions are provided on improving latency for Ultra-Reliable and Low-Latency Communications (URLLC).
