Equitable precision medicine for type 2 diabetes
The Lancet Digital Health
Abstract
SGLT2 and DPP4 inhibitor therapies are two classes of glucose-lowering treatment for people with type 2 diabetes. SGLT2 inhibitors are recommended by clinical treatment guidelines for patients with or at high risk of chronic heart failure, atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, or chronic kidney disease. However, this recommendation only covers a fraction of patients; determining the best treatment for the majority is less clear. Furthermore, response to these treatments can vary between individual patients.
