Double E shaped slotted reconfigurable square patch antenna for X-Band wireless applications

Abstract

A modern frequency reconfigurable slotted microstrip patch antenna operating at the 12GHz frequency band is proposed. The design comprises a square patch (10mmx10mm) with integrated double E shaped slot and pin diodes for frequency switching at the centre frequency of 12 GHz and the frequency reconfiguration is achieved over the 10.252Ghz-12.02GHz band. Simulations have been done for the on and off states of the diodes. The structure is designed on FR4 substrate (εr=4.4) and thickness 1.6mm. CST Microwave Studio was used for simulating the antenna structure and the results show that the return loss is less than −30 dB for the three resonant frequencies
