• Childhood household dysfunction is positively related to postpartum depression in adolescent mothers in Peru. • Resilience skills partially mediated the relation between childhood household dysfunction and postpartum depression. • Future work should investigate factors of resilience related to mental health effects of childhood household dysfunction.
