Candida auris: new clade, same challenges
The Lancet Microbe
Abstract
In an Article in our September issue, Chayaporn Suphavilai, Karrie Kwan Ki Ko, and colleagues report the identification and characterisation of three Candida auris isolates from inpatients at a hospital in Singapore belonging to a new clade, clade VI, which is phenotypically and genotypically distinct from the previously known clades I–V. Strikingly, a study published in June by Tahsin Khan and colleagues, reported the identification of two unusual C auris isolates from neonates in a neonatal intensive care unit in Bangladesh in 2021, which were also assigned to the new clade VI.
