Abstract

This research endeavors to examine the influence of corrosion and fatigue on the mechanical characteristics of HRB400E rebars . First, the remaining mechanical characteristics of HRB400E rebars after corrosion were assessed, followed by a fatigue test of the corroded HRB400E rebars. Then, tensile tests were conducted on these pre-damaged specimens to acquire stress-strain curves and relevant mechanical properties. The investigation revealed that the combined impact of corrosion and fatigue has a notable influence on the mechanical characteristics of HRB400E rebars. The yield strength , ultimate strength, and ductility of the HRB400E rebars decreased significantly, while the modulus of elasticity remained unaltered. To assess this combined effect of corrosion and fatigue, a parameter α was introduced. The value of α can effectively evaluate the impact of the combined effects of corrosion and fatigue on the mechanical properties of HRB400E rebars.
