Abstract

This paper proposes simple, slotted microstrip square patch antenna at millimetre wave frequency used for 5G and beyond 5G wireless communication systems. The antenna is simulated using CST Microwave Studio simulation tool antenna is optimized for a center frequency of 28 GHz with 1.68 GHz, high bandwidth. The efficiency of the optimized antenna is 96.6% at the resonant frequency of 28 GHz. The optimized antenna provides better results in terms of return loss and maximum gain of -38.3 dB and 6.46 dB respectively. The antenna materials are; kapton polymide (lossy) with a dielectric value of 3.5 and a loss tangent (tan Δ) of 0.007as substrate and copper serves for both ground and patch. The dimension of antenna is 5.12×5.12×0.9 mm as fit with smaller size 5G and 6G wireless communication devices.
