Greetings From the New Editor-in-Chief of AACE Clinical Case Reports (ACCR)
Sina Jasim
Abstract
Happy New Year! I am excited to begin my term as the new AACE Clinical Case Reports (ACCR) Editor-in-Chief as we welcome in 2021. I look forward to working with everyone in the upcoming year ahead. Launched in 2015, ACCR continues to grow in both manuscript submissions and readership – the number of yearly article downloads has increased from 12,000 annually in 2015 to over 185,000 this year. In addition, as of 2019, ACCR is indexed in PubMed Central (PMC) – a major milestone for the journal. We appreciate the hard work and dedication of ACCR’s inaugural Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Derek LeRoith, and the commitment of the associate editors, editorial board members, and reviewers who all contributed to the journal. I also would like to extend my appreciation to the editorial and publications staff, who work tirelessly to support the journals. Colleagues, I am thrilled to share with you a few new developments for ACCR journal starting this year! While ACCR has been closely associated with its sister journal, Endocrine Practice, in 2021, we will focus on further shaping its identity as a true open access case reports journal. ACCR will now have an independent team of associate editors and an editorial board solely focused on unique and challenging clinical case reports in the field of endocrinology and metabolism. In addition to case reports, ACCR will now also include the Visual Vignettes, formerly published in Endocrine Practice. I am excited to share that we will also be expanding submission categories to include video vignettes, editorials, case series and more. We are delighted to have Elsevier as our new publisher for AACE’s scientific journals. The publications team is working with Elsevier to finalize the transition, which includes a new and improved web platform to access journal content seamlessly and other enhanced web features for readers. In addition to enhancing journal content and features, we are focused on creating a diverse and inclusive journal editorial board for ACCR. We will also be working with Elsevier to increase reviewer recognition and expand the journal’s presence via social media and other marketing efforts. Our commitment to education remains a priority and we are exploring different ways we can encourage fellow/trainee involvement with ACCR, such as a mentored peer review process. More information will be shared as this initiative takes shape. We are excited about these changes, and I am looking forward to a great year! I encourage you to share your ideas and suggestions on how ACCR can best serve this mission. Please email us directly at [email protected] . I wish you all a great 2021! Warmest regards,
