Abstract
This essay is an introduction to Ecopedagogy and the ongoing process of reinvention and establishment of new theoretical and practical bases, with its new challenges in the current time we live. The question that guides the reflection is simple: what is Ecopedagogy? To answer the question, the text was divided into three parts: 1) on the Latin American origins of Ecopedagogy 50 years ago; 2) the paths of Ecopedagogy throughout its 50 years; 3) the process of reinventing Ecopedagogy based on the three pillars of criticism: patriarchy, modernity and capitalism. We close the essay with a set of propositions for a collective journey in view of the constitution of Ecopedagogy as a field of investigation.
